My young adult fix: Mercy Thompson

I have talked a lot about epic fantasy and traditional fantasy but I have a young adult style series that I find irresistible. The Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs provides me with that spunky heroine that even though she does not appear that power, has the right tools for the job.

Mercedes is a German car mechanic who faces up against the supernatural in her tri-cities area. What strikes me first is the great world Patricia Briggs has created for all the things that go bump in the night. The sophistication and in-depth development of the customs of the pack and the seethe and the fae is fun to delve into.

Also the development of the story and the unfortunate tragedies in the story that make it more realistic, is a strong selling point. Then the humour is so relatable. And even the romance is cute. Adam’s relentlessness, Mercy’s apprehension, Sam’s complication, and even the unresolved attraction from a Vampire.

Finally we all know a good fantasy or sci-fi novel or flick is centred on the awesome bad guys and even in the short book lengths the bad guys are given their full development which results in unforeseen demises or compromises. Again with the ‘weak’ heroine usually finding the answer that sometimes involves her Lamb of God necklace.

Patricia Briggs makes the coyote signal adaptability, change and chaos, and we all know that change is the only constant thing in our world.

Enjoy an afternoon with the adaptable Mercedes in the Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs

– God Bless

More frequent updates will give your website higher authority & rank in google.
